✨ Friend of Camber: Gabs Gofis
What she's gatekeeping, great date spots, & overspending at boutiques
Mads here! Say hey to Friend of Camber, our new series where the people we adore share the LA spots they can’t shut up about.
This week’s feature is my style icon, . You know that person you meet for the first time and immediately know you’re going to be friends? That’s what happened when I met Gabs. Not only is she one of the chic-est people I know, but her taste in LA restaurants & spots is impeccable. Proud to call her a Friend of Camber!
Gabs is a fashion and lifestyle content creator who writes a Substack called where she shares fashion finds, her favorite restaurants, beauty secrets, and more. She’s also a marketing director at Starling, a fine jewelry brand based in LA!
Let’s get to know her LA.
What’s your “I don’t want to gatekeep, but I kind of do” rec?
Fleurs et Sel- best cookies I've ever had in my life and I don't say that lightly!
Cobi's - even though it's pretty well-known now.. It's truly such a special place. Some of the best food in this city, and perfect for a date night! It's actually our #1 pick for a date night in takeout moment. Get the butter chicken!
Woon - truly some of the best Chinese food and a family run business!
These three pizza spots are some of the best I've ever had: Triple Beam, Grà and Pizzeria Sei.
Primo Passo - my favorite coffee in LA. Their house-made hazelnut latte is my kryptonite.
Charcoal in Venice is one of the best steakhouses in LA!
Where do you go when you want to feel like a regular?
Marvin to feel like you're in New York.
Angelini Osteria for classic neighborhood Italian.
La Scala for the chopped salad, exclusively.
Dudley Market for insanely good everything, especially seafood and burger.
Gjusta for a lovely brunch!
Izakaya Manhattan Beach for my favorite sushi after the beach!
What’s your favorite spot for people-watching?
Sunset tower with my martini in hand and Courage Bagels with my heirloom tomato burnt everything bagel in hand.
What’s the one boutique where you always overspend, and somehow justify it every time?
Wright's in Manhattan Beach.. Literally every time! They have one of the best curations and it's more low key. RLT of course- I'd buy out all their vintage Levi's if I could. And, TELLER at Platform, especially for gifts!
What’s the one spot that turns a decent date into a great one?
All Time, Barrique, Antico Nuovo and Dunsmoor are very romantic and have the perfect amount of candlelight for a special date night. You can't go wrong with Felix or Mother Wolf for a milestone celebration.
Find Gabs on Substack, Instagram, and TikTok.
See ya around,
Mads
