π©βπ³ Friend of Camber: Emma Kula (Kula's Kitchen)
The best martini at Capri Club, where to go to feel like you're in Europe, & what to order at Little Ripper
Mads here! Say hey to Friend of Camber, our new series where the people we adore share the LA spots they canβt shut up about.
Meet Emma! Sheβs a Canadian content creator and business owner living in Los Angeles. She creates recipe and lifestyle content on Kula's Kitchen and co-owns Stellar Eats, a line of grain-free baking mixes made with real food ingredients that actually taste amazingβavailable at Erewhon, Whole Foods, Gelson's, Bristol Farms, and more.
She moved to Los Angeles a year and a half ago after dreaming about it for years, and she absolutely loves the cityβespecially the east side and northeast LA, where most of her recommendations can be found. She believes these neighborhoods offer some of the best food, culture, and community in LA, and with so much to explore, sheβs usually at a coffee shop, farmerβs market, patio, or hiking trail.
Letβs get to know her LA!
Whatβs your βI donβt want to gatekeep, but I kind of doβ rec?
Little Ripper in Glassell Park. It's such a cute and inviting neighborhood spot with delicious coffee (I love their signature iced latte with homemade lavender almond milk), Australian-style breakfast and a new(er) evening menu that's perfect alongside their natural wine selection.
Where do you go when you want to feel like a regular?
Capri Club for a spritz or Vesper martini, Sam's Place for orange wine, chicken & salad and Canyon Coffee for coffee (specifically an iced pistachio milk cappuccino).
What restaurant nails the βlowkey but serious about foodβ vibe?
Barra Santos in Cypress Park. All of their food is fantastic (I dream of the cabbage with white beans) and sitting outside on their bistro tables feels like a little slice of Europe.
Whatβs the one place that proves LA really is a food city?
Oooh - this one is so tough because there are so many. I'm gonna go with Quarter Sheets because it's a feat to stand out in a city that is not really known for their pizza.
Whatβs the dish you still think about days laterβand maybe went back for twice in one week?
The flakey bread at Kismet...it's life-changing. Also the ricotta pancakes at Cafe Telegrama.

See ya around,
Mads
